If so you need to look at the cost of fixing that plus releveling cost. Without a drainage repair I would assume releveling every 10 to 15 years. When they relevel they may only get 1/2 off the total out so you might be back where you started in 10 years. Some people might be ok with that. But a good drainage repair could change the equation. So check out my blog on drainage for Yazoo clay.Britt Maxwellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13596570813492352572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9164794533431245296.post-37693305960326821332020-01-12T21:39:54.072-06:002020-01-12T21:39:54.072-06:00I looked at a house that was 20 yrs old in Whisper...I looked at a house that was 20 yrs old in Whisper Lake in Madison. The floor was 6 inches off from the highest to lowest point. Is a home like this worth fixing? You could feel the hump in the floor as you entered the house.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02706000033627020351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9164794533431245296.post-74662618864497737622019-08-12T21:55:15.321-05:002019-08-12T21:55:15.321-05:00The best advice I can give regarding buying a hous...The best advice I can give regarding buying a house is to buy one that is at least 5 or 6 years old and get someone reliable to survey the floor elevations. Generally, a serious problem will show itself within that time frame. If you want to build, your soil borings are always the place to start. If you find Yazoo clay closer than 8 feet to the surface you will need to build a pad on top or maybe over excavate to remove some clay. It's a fairly well established process.Britt Maxwellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13596570813492352572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9164794533431245296.post-1760145666196250372019-08-12T11:32:07.953-05:002019-08-12T11:32:07.953-05:00I'm new to the Madison County, Mississippi are...I'm new to the Madison County, Mississippi area, and I am terrified to build or buy a house, or even a condominium. I recently visited with a couple who built a house with a very heavy foundation and buffer, but as I toured the neighborhood there were French drains galore, and water running all over the place. Any suggestions? I honestly don't know how to get my head around this ubiquitous problem.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08650367189721513533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9164794533431245296.post-27489215192693798752019-05-19T17:37:15.155-05:002019-05-19T17:37:15.155-05:00Susan, Thank you so much.
